At the core of my teaching are eight Guiding Principles:
1. Making music is at the heart of all lessons
2. Learning is placed within a structured and progressive framework
3. The development of pianistic skills is separated from the teaching of musical concepts
4. Every pupil is treated as unique and given an individual and tailormade approach
5. A sense of exploration and discovery in pupils is developed
6. Lessons engage the imagination, energy and creativity of both the pupil and the teacher
7. I teach with honesty, commitment, integrity, professionalism and passion
8. I am committed to a process of ongoing professional development and personal music-making

Individual piano or musicianship lessons for adults are offered subject to availability and are tailored to pianists who wish to develop their skills in imaginative, holistic and musically satisfying ways.
Drawing on creative approaches to technique, interpretation and practice, these sessions support players at all stages, from returning adults to more advanced pianists seeking new perspectives.

Learning the piano is for life!
Piano lessons with me are always full of enjoyment, curiosity and learning and go far beyond the traditional approach taken by many teachers. I focus on teaching the full range of musical skills with musicianship, improvisation and playing by ear all part of the mix, alongside the important skill of reading.
Developing the musician comes first
